The data provided to the United States Forest Service under this license agreement will be used for evaluating, identifying, and assessing content to support U.S. Forest plan development with a focus on information relevant to at-risk species within Forest Service land management planning units. The data will be delivered via NatureServe Explorer Pro.

A small group of USFS national office staff will have access to this pilot dataset for a period of 12 months and and based on this will be decided whether to move forward on a national data license. NatureServe is aware that many network programs already have close relationships with USFS staff, receive funding from USFS, and share data with local offices. In early 2026, we will hold a scoping call with network programs to discuss any and all considerations around a regional or national license agreement.

Project Scope: For this pilot project, NatureServe will be delivering EOs for G1-G3 and S1-S2 species that occur within National Forests in the Northwest Forest Plan plus a one-mile buffer.
