Organization Requesting Data: The National Council for Air and Stream Improvement, Inc. (NCASI) is requesting access to precise EO data and any available Species Habitat Models for the following states: AL, AR, CA, FL, GA, ID, IL, KY, LA, ME, MI, MN, MS, MT, NY, NC, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, WA, WV, WI. This data along with other data products that are being discussed between NCASI member companies, NatureServe, and Network Programs, are aimed at improving the outcomes of forest screening and management practices. One primary role of NCASI is supporting its members adherence to key sustainable certification standards such as the Sustainable Forestry Initiative ® (SFI) and Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) standards. This is the second two-year data license with NatureServe that NCASI and select NCASI members (listed below) have funded.    

This License Agreement entitles NCASI employees, NCASI participating Members Company employsees (listed below), and contractors to NCASI Member Companies (hereinafter “Data Users”) to have direct access to a Licensed Dataset for the purposes outlined here. All Data Users must complete NatureServe's Data Use Training, register, and be verified as a Data User before being provided with access to the Licensed Dataset on NatureServe Explorer Pro. General Data Use Terms:

Data Users who interact directly with the electronic Licensed Dataset on NatureServe Explorer Pro are required to complete NatureServe Data Use Training and can only use the precise data internally for the purposes outlined. NCASI and NCASI member companies are responsible for ensuring that any contractors follow these data use guidelines. 

The only exception are Level 2 Data Users who are typically field staff in charge of, or involved in, extraction activities. These Level 2 Data Users can only view the Licensed Data as an electronic or paper report or map and must exclude species names (common or scientific). In addition, each page of the report, map, or presentation must include the words “Confidential, sensitive data. For internal use only.” unless the data is presented at geographic scales expressly defined as allowable for public use (according to public data sharing rules documented by NatureServe Network Programs).

Purpose:

Improve screening and land management practices of NCASI member companies, and their contractors and suppliers, in order to minimize impacts to rare and imperiled species and ecological communities. 

 

Scope of Data: 

The data provided under this NCASI License Agreement includes Element Occurrences and Species Habitat Models (as available) for G1/T1-G3/T3, S1-S5, and federal ESA status species and ecological communities that occur in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
