Custom Data Request ID/Name: TBD

Organization/Individual Requesting Data:  The Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) is requesting a database of newly (since 2018) ranked or reviewed G1-G2 elements occurring in the U.S. and Canada.

Purpose:

NatureServe will compile the following information for CBD:

  • Use a subset (provided by CBD) of the 2018 dataset that NatureServe prepared for CBD, and compare the Element_Global_IDs with our current database, in order to generate and provide a list of species that do have a taxonomic match.
    1. NatureServe will provide CBD with a list of the 2018 species that currently do not match our database due to taxonomic changes, but, depending on the number of these species, we may not be able to document reasons for these changes under the current price quote.
  • Create and provide an Access database that includes rank, description, habitat, management, references, an “aquatic associated” flag, and other data for species occurring in the U.S. or Canada ranked G1 or G2 that have been reviewed since June 1, 2018, and/or have had a rank change since June 1, 2018.  This data will generally be in the same format as the 2018 dataset NatureServe provided to CBD – an Access database with the same tables and fields (see Special Considerations section below, Item #3) previously provided.

Note that NatureServe will provide a database of all G1-G2 species, and include the rank review and rank change date fields that allow CBD to subset out records that have been reviewed and records that have had a rank change.

Scope of Data:

  1. Excel spreadsheet with species from 2018 dataset provided to CBD that do not taxonomically match NatureServe’s central database.
  2. Access database for species occurring in the U.S. or Canada ranked G1 or G2 that have been reviewed since June 1, 2018, and/or have had a rank change since June 1, 2018.
  3. Supporting metadata will be provided in .pdf format to help ensure proper use and interpretation of the deliverables.

Mode of Delivery:

The Licensed Dataset (species EOs, SFs, and models defined above) was provided to CBD as a personal geodatabase file on 2/29/2024.
