Custom Data Request ID/Name: DOD_DOD0R004_11_2022

Purpose of Request: This project will create a library of fine-scale distribution maps for DoD Priority Species (TER-S), which will deliver consistent, defensible, refined information on the location of suitable habitat for at-risk species to DoD staff across all U.S. military branches. We are currently in year two of this project. These range-wide habitat suitability maps can transform the effectiveness of stewardship decision-making, increasing mission flexibility by minimizing conflict with TER-S, improving mitigation outcomes both offsite and on installations, and streamlining Endangered Species Act implementation. The library will consist of vetted, standardized modeled habitat suitability maps for DoD Priority Species, accompanied by
guidance on their interpretation and application. The library will contain both newly modeled habitat maps and existing models that fulfill quality requirements defined by a peer-reviewed model assessment rubric.

Scope of Request: Seeking model input data for Gymnorhinus cyanocephalus (Pinyon Jay) and Hartwrightia floridana (Florida Hartwrightia), which will deliver consistent, defensible, refined information on the location of suitable habitat for at-risk species to DoD staff across all U.S. military branches.

Scope of Area: AL,AZ,CA,CO,CT,FL,GA,LA,MD,ME,MS,NC,NH,NJ,TN

Mode of Delivery:  Individuals who will have access to these precise models include DoD Legacy Office staff, Natural Resource Management staff located at U.S. installations, select staff at regional military commands, and a limited number of DoD contractors. DoD staff and contractors will access all models via Explorer Pro and are required to review and agree to standard data use terms which prohibit the redistribution of models outside DoD. Models may be discussed at conferences or appear in public-facing communications about the project, in which case models will be viewable only and shown at a spatial resolution and/or scale that complies with data use terms and network permissions.
